A scenic and informative tour of the final days of our last great native Prince of Wales.

This tour gives you a taste of local celebrity history as well as a stop at a magical waterfall. A typical trip would start in Cilmeri and travel over the Epynt range hearing stories of Prince Llewelyn. We take a stop at the oldest yew tree in Defynnog before heading to Craig y Nos.

No Welsh Overland Safari tour is set in stone, and each tour will likely be tailored to the group’s needs and requests. We are proud of 11 set tours, however, we also offer a bespoke option and can on request arrange picks up and drop-offs across Wales and can cater to requests to go further afield.

On this tour we begin our journey travelling towards the Epynt and then onto Pen y Crug Hillfort above Brecon. From here you will be treated to a breathtaking 360 degree view of the Usk Valley…

From Cilmeri we travel to Garth to the Red Kite Viewing Point before crossing the military range and learn about the history of the land. Next we stop at the UKs oldest Yew Tree on Defynnog before stopping at the International Rarebit Centre for a bite to eat. We then take a 2/12 hour walk at Ystradfellte taking us behind majestic waterfalls. We then travel on to Defynnog to see the 5000 year old Yew tree, returning home to Cilmeri via the mock-German village on the Sennybridge military range.

Firstly we travel to the viewing point above Cwm Graig Ddu. We then travelling over the Epynt, learning about the fauna and flora and how it was taken over in 1940 by the military.

From Cilmery where the last native prince of Wales died on 11th December 1282 to Cwm Graig Ddu hearing about the history of Llewelyn as we go, at Cwm Graig Ddu we marvel at the panoramic views. From here cross the military range hearing about how it was taken over to help the war effort.

We travel to an area called Dinas where the red kite survived during its near extinction. Sadly, none nest at Dinas. You will probably see buzzards, red kites, peregrines, kestrels and sparrowhawks.

On this popular “Grand” guided tour, discover the unique landscapes of Mid Wales as you travel through Elan Valley inundated with beautiful scenery. Begin your trip in Cilmeri and travel north through picturesque scenery to Elan Valley. Giving you a rare opportunity for great views and extra time to explore the trails. Photographs cannot adequately do justice to the incredible landscape; you must witness it in person!
